This link leads to an extremely comprehensive listing of "deep" web searching articles and shortcuts. This is about going beyond Google or Yahoo, and finding information publicly available on the Internet that does not spring up from a simple search. From the article:
The Deep Web covers somewhere in the vicinity of 900 billion pages of information located through the world wide web in various files and formats that the current search engines on the Internet either cannot find or have difficulty accessing. The current search engines find about 8 billion pages at the time of this writing.These files are predominately used by businesses to communicate their information within their organizations, or to disseminate information to the external world from their organization. Searching for this information using deeper search techniques and the latest algorithms allows researchers to obtain a vast amount of corporate information that was previously unavailable or inaccessible.

How many times have you looked up an out-of-state corporation's information? Wouldn't it be nice to have a single website with links to corporate filing information from all 50 states? Voila. The site correctly points out that the extent of information available in each state varies widely. Georgia even gives you a free search by officer's name to find every company that person serves as officer on. At a minimum, you can start your search for registered agents and official corporate names.

Fortunately, the SEC makes quarterly and annual reports available online in an easily searchable, free system. If you want to see how the company has represented its own transactions and ownership, look no further than EDGAR.
